A top police official on Monday claimed that he had not suppressed information as to whether he was considered for post of Tamil Nadu police chief from the Madras High Court and alleged that the state government had done so.

With a section of government employees unions threatening to go on a general strike on Tuesday, as part of the nationwide strike call given by trade unions, Tamil Nadu chief secretary S. Malathi on Monday warned of stringent action against those trying to disturb law and order.
